Late Day Mud Flats

The Artists of the Gallows Run 2013 show has moved to the Nurture Nature Center, 518 Northampton Street, Easton, PA.  Our celebratory opening will be on October 10th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  Although this image of water and light would be at home in this show, due to available space it will not be seen.  Three other large photographs, however, will be exhibited along with the three 18″ x 24″ images in the original barn show that was held on September 28th and 29th.

This exhibition will run through to November 8th.  Please visit Nurture Nature’s web site for hours, directions and parking.

5th Annual Gallows Run Art for Conservation Show

Beside Rapp Creek I will again be participating in the Gallows Run Art Show.  This is our fifth year of showing works by local artists in support of local environmentalism.  50% of the profits from this show go directly to land preservation in Nockamixon Township.  This project is dear to my heart and meshes so beautifully with the value I place on caring for our earth.  What you see here is one of 3 pieces I will have in the show along with the art of 16 additional artists.  The hours for the exhibition, which will take place in the barn at Rising Sun Farm, 207 Church Hill Road, Kintnersville, PA, 18930, are on Saturday September 28th 5:00 – 7:30 pm, and on Sunday, September 29th  2:00 – 5:00 pm.

The entire show will the move to the Nurture Nature Center, 518 Northampton Street in Easton PA.  There will be a celebratory opening event there on Thursday evening October10th from 6:00 until 9:00 pm.

Philadelphia Sketch Club Photography Show 2013

The presence of family over the many years of use permeate the atmosphere of the bedroom.

“Cottage Bed” one of my “Reunion Series” a group of photographs examining the personal and archetypal qualities of home in America was inspired by an abode so familiar to the artist but seen through a new lens reveals the place home and hearth can have in our collective psyche.
This image (selected for an honorable mention) is one of three that I submitted to The Philadelphia Sketch Club’s Photography Show 2013. It is an honor to be part of this year’s show at our country’s oldest artists club. Please visit sketchclub.org for hours and more information.

Jackson on Gallows Run

Jackson on Gallows

The high water of a late winter’s storm has pushed debris to the edge of the Gallows Run.  Caught in the flow were burs and a few walnuts.  Spring’s approach has added greens of grass and clover. The stream’s currents and volume combined with the continuity of the branchlets and old grass stems created this mesh of life and history.

Beside Rapp Creek

The same swift current that skBeside Rapp Creekims rocks in the center of the run scours with water born ice, boulders and gravel along its flanks.  Rapp Creek is a “flashy” stream that immediately responds as rocky soils up hill shed rain water quickly. The stream can swell and subside suddenly, making its banks a violent place to hold on.

2.9.2013

The last day of the Year of the Dragon, Water element, began with finding what looked like a dragon's jaw hanging below the eaves of our garage and ended with a surprise exhibit of very fine fireworks..

The last day of this cycle’s Year of the Dragon, Water Element, began with what looked like the bottom jaw of a dragon jutting off our roof and hanging beneath the eaves.  The day ended with a surprise show of neighborhood fireworks blazing through the tree tops and reflecting across the snow covered fields beyond our house.

Corn Stubble and Old Snow

Corn Stubble and Old Snow-1In finding a new image I seem to be focused on what remains from the past year and weather.  Well, so be it.  Embracing the past to create a sound foundation for the new, yeah, that’s what I meant!  New or old, the sunlight slants across the landscape following its own rules.

Log over High Falls Creek

The weather plays such a part in creation around us; decay, rebirth, dormancy.  We had a sharp frost night before last and the walnut leaves dropped en mass.  I find myself watching not only for colors and views  newly revealed, but the grace in the  change.
